Let forever begin tonight... July 19, 2008
Food and Drinks Around Town
Please visit downtown Champaign's official
website. You can find a list of downtown restaurants with links to their websites
on this page.
Here are some of our personal recommendations:
- For the best coffee (and pie!) in town, visit
Cafe Kopi.
- For really unique, high-quality food, visit
Radio Maria.
-
Cowboy Monkey is
a nice bar with good food and plenty of outdoor seating.
-
The Blind Pig in downtown
Champaign was voted
the 26th best place to have a beer in America.
- While you're downtown, take a stroll through
West Side Park.
The Gus Macker basketball tournament will take place there July 19 and 20, so there
should be plenty of excitement.
Here are some recommendations in other parts of town:
- For the best frozen custard in town, head to
Jarling's
Custard Cup, conveniently located near the Hilton and Hawthorne, near the corner
of Kirby and State St.
-
Siam Terrace in downtown
Urbana serves delicious Thai cuisine.
- For great Indian food, try Bombay Indian Grill on Green St in Campustown.
- Try Za's for good, fast sandwiches, pasta, pizza, and salad. They
have three locations: on Green St in Campustown, on Springfield west of
Mattis, and on Neil St across from Marketplace Mall. The Neil St location
is just north of I-74, making it a convenient place to grab a bite before
you head out of town.
Elsewhere
Champaign is within a three hour drive of three great cities.
-
Chicago. The Windy City.
The Second City. Whatever you call it, it's a great place to find music,
culture, food, and an all-around good time.
- There's always plenty to do in
Indianapolis.
- Head down to St Louis
to see the arch. Make sure to visit Kiener Plaza, where we got engaged.
