Storage is an exciting project to replace the traditional filesystem with a new document store. Storage is part of a larger design for a new desktop environment, more details on that to come. The current implementation offers natural language access, network transparency, and a number of other features (read this to answer "what is it"). You can also read about the technical details behind the features.

If you're interested in a more HCI-oriented discourse, I'm working on a paper covering Storage. It provides both some explanation of how Storage works, and a rationalization for Storage's design choices.

Screenshots are also available to gawk at, though this is of a more demo-able version of Storage than lives in CVS. Since then the NL stuff has been reworked and is not fully functioning yet.
