Siesta

Yesterday I went to dinner to one of the best restaurants in Madrid: Las cuatro estaciones. I ate so much that I had to go bed at 3am. I wake up at 7:30 am. My plan was doing siesta in the afternoon, but I began to do some gconf-editor hacking, implementing browsing defaults/mandatory settings.

We have two new members in "La Espiral". Frightening.

BabOoM

Lot of sports this week. Estudiantes lost the Basketball final against Barcelona. But Iban Mayo won the Dauphiné Liberé and he will be a good rival for Armstrong for this year Tour. I'd like to see Valverde also there. jfleck: this Tour is going to rock!. Also Spain won its first match in Euro 2004... go go go!

Films: I finally saw Mulholand Drive, one of the best films in the last years. I needed one hour thinking about it to completely understand it and figure every fact of the movie. Also watched Ripley's Game that is bad.

Unversity + GUADEC: I had an exam this Tuesday, but our proffesors are going to do a strike (Madrid goverment owns them lot of money), so they moved my Networks exam to 28,29 or 30 June, the days I'm on Kristiansand in GUADEC. So I hope I could talk with my teacher and do the exam in another day.

London: I need a job

This July I'm going to London for 2/3 months. As I don't have enogh money to subsiste there, I'd need to work. I know that I can work in a McDonal's or something like that, but I'd prefer working with computers/programming (less stress, more money;) ). So if you know any kind of job I can get there, please, contact me.

Gaim and Amsterdam

Finally gaim got MSN file transfers and buddy icons so I can use for my IM. I realized that it uses the old GtkFileSelection, so I ported it to GtkFileChooser. A bit of pain, because you have to maitain compatibility code with Gtk 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4, do the code is full ol #if blah.... I don't know why people want to maintain this kind of compatibility, because Gtk 2.X series are full backwards compatible, so if a user of gtk 2.0 (for example redhat 7.3) want the new gaim, he would need to update it from source or from a 3rd party binary package, so gaim could kindly ask also to update its gtk+ (source or binary).

This evening I found an example of how two great singers can do it really bad. I really love the original Jaques Brel's Amsterdam song. I also love the English version David Bowie did in 1969 and recorded during the Ziggy Stardust sessions, and appeared two years later as B-side of 'Sorrow'. Two years ago, my also beloved Ute Lemper did a new version of this song, mixing English and French versions, really impressive. So this eveing I got a rare live recording of Bowie and Lemper singing it togheter, please, listen to it

New hardware

Finally I've upgraded the last items remaing of my original computer bought in 1998: processor and motherboard. I've switched from a PII 400Mhz to a AMD 1200 Mhz, that is really fast for me. Now I can do gdb and make without too much pain. Thanks to Luisdl for the hardware donation. I also upgraded to Fedora Core 2.

After lot of hours doing real work (I mean, the work I'm supposed to be payed for), I went out at 1:30 am. Some beers with friends at fancy clubs. I have my first final exam in one week, and I'm preparing my two next thematic parties at home in the next two weeks: Russian party and not-yet-themed-party.

In the GNOME side, we are having lot of interesting stuff recenly: industrial theme, mobility, gnome-keyring integration, galago presence (and the sento: feature!), gnome-system-tools, evolution 2.0....dudes... you rock!
