Madrid ha muerto is a great book written by Luis Antonio de Villena. The title comes from a sentence pronounced by Miguel Piña in 1991 and says that the Madrid of the eighties, the Madrid canalla, La movida, La nueva Ola, the freedom, in conclusion, Madrid nightlife had just died. He said those words when a waiter asked him to put out his hash joint at El Sol (one of the main clubs of that era). Some years later he died of AIDS.
Last Tuesday we had the Xmas dinner + 25th Aniversary of Tecsidel. After the luxury dinner and some pub crawling at 4 am we went to Why not? one of the places in Madrid that never sleeps. For the first time in 8 years they asked us to pay a cover to get in, so Madrid is dead, again.
In Spain we have the ancient tradition during Xmas of children asking for presents to the Three Wise Men, instead of that ugly Coca Cola man. So here is my letter for the GNOME community:
