Go forward in time to December 2001.
Spent quite a bit of time in the supermarket with Oralia. I picked up a very nice glass mug for the office, but then left it at home and forgot to take it with me. Doh. Oralia found a very nice flower vase for a new little plant she is taking care of.
Nice lunch with Chema at the Tizoncito, and I got a fantastically good gringa. Had a discussion about how to prioritize Sawfish bugs and other desktop bugs. It looks like we have a good plan now. Recounted the Enlightenment vs. FVWM2 days when I was at RHAD Labs. It is funny that Enlightenment is, right now, a better window manager than Sawfish. It pretty much Just Works. Still, on the long run, I'd much rather maintain Sawfish than E. I just wish neither needed any maintenance; shouldn't a window manager be able to Just Be Done? That, however, is an impossibility.
Long phone conversation with my mom in the evening. It seems one of my grandmother's sisters is rather ill because of her bad eating habits. Sigh. Unpleasantness.
Sometimes listening to BT on the headphones at full volume is just what your mood needs.
Started using Galeon on my laptop. Wow, it does kick ass. I should install this at home.
It looks like I got re-elected for the GNOME Board of Directors, so I'll be serving for another year. Thanks to all of those who voted.
It is a shame that no people from Sun got elected. I'm really happy about Jody being elected; he should be able to provide some coherence for gnome-office, something that we have been sorely lacking.
Met the new people at the office; I had been working from home due to laptop breakage. We all had lunch at El Farolito; had a good but rather expensive huarache al pastor. It is good to have more hackers around.
During the Kromlech meeting, we started to write down the scores for the old album. This doesn't look like it should take too long; the songs are musically much simpler than the ones in the new album.
Sigh, I need to reinstall Lilypond at some point; the version I have is turning old.
More do-it-yourself plumbing; got some gypsum and re-seated the bathroom sink over the cabinet's surface. Apparently whoever installed it initially just put some ugly gobs of silicone and did a rather bad job.
Excellent rehearsal last night with the Kromlech guys. Leo was having some trouble on the drums with the rhythm we will be using for the second part of the new piece. This will be cool.
Re-reading SICP. It really puts me in a good mood, not unlike getting a brain massage.
More gdk-pixbuf patch merging.
Oralia has discovered Aisleriot; she spent the whole morning playing solitaire games. Eeeek.
Had a nice, long conversation with Martha Ibarra, a long time friend of my parents.
Spell checking in Spanish was not working in the Evolution composer. GDB the spell checker component, read aspell/pspell manuals, find out that I don't have /usr/share/pspell/es-aspell.pwli. Decided to be a good citizen and sent a patch to the Red Hat Bugzilla. Wooo.
Mad bug-fixing rush for Evolution Release Candidate 2. Things seem to be going well!
We went to see The Score. If they had cut out everything but the actual crime sequence, it would be better. The rest is just filler.
Last Wednesday Oralia and myself went to a poetry reading by some of her classmates. It was held at the old Palace of Mining in the historic center of the city; a wonderful setting indeed.
Visited my grandmother and her sisters over the weekend; had a good time. Took my grandmother to a concert on Sunday. They were going to play Villa-Lobos's guitar concerto, but it turned out to be cancelled in favor of some uninteresting modern oboe concerto :( My brother also wanted to listen to the guitar concerto, so he was pretty pissed off.
Been fixing bugs and waiting for the patches to be approved on our evolution-patches list. It is fun to work this way, but one gets impatient on the waiting period. Having uncommitted code on your hard drive makes for an uncomfortable feeling.
Dave Mason, a man of impeccable taste, got a Voigtländer Bessa R. I'm envious.
I almost sliced the tip of my finger today while slicing tomatoes. Fortunately the knife just caught the very tip of the flesh, with no bleeding or anything. Whew.
Finished fixing #6150, yay! Michael was quick in approving the patch, so it's in now.
Sigh, if only you could install global event filters in GTK+ 1.2.x. Walking window hierarchies to install filters for every window is definitely not pretty.
We went to watch Evolution. Very enjoyable movie.
Installed a new faucet for the bathroom sink, as the old one sucked. Now we need some sealing goo or something to re-seat the basin on the sink's surface. Plumbing sucks; it gets messy and is definitely not a precision job.
For dinner we made fillet of tuna in Roquefort cheese sauce, with a side of white rice and sauteed wild mushrooms and chard. The tuna fish did not turn out very well; its flavor is too strong and clashed with the Roquefort. The sauce was pretty good, anyways; Oralia suggested using it on chicken instead.
Watched Primal Fear on video. Edward Norton is superb, but the rest is... not superb at all.
We went to Mixquic for the celebrations of the Día de Muertos. There are some pictures from last year. I will put up this year's pictures soon.
I'm a moron; how embarrassing. I wrote
pointer_to_int -= blah;
instead of
*pointer_to_int -= blah;
Go backward in time to October 2001.
